More than 870,000 people have already fled since the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Many of them have only what they carry on their backs. In some places, food and gasoline are rationed. People line up all day at pharmacies to get the medicines they need. The supply situation in Ukraine itself is becoming increasingly difficult. What is needed most are everyday medicines as well as cots, blankets, food and cash to provide for the many people.

At the borders to Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, numerous Malteser volunteers are already in action to supply refugees with food and water. Here, too, the situation is becoming increasingly critical. At the border to Poland and Slovakia, car queues of up to 40 kilometers are forming. People lack blankets, they wait out in the cars or make their way on foot.

Donations are urgently needed to alleviate the acute suffering of the people and to provide those in need with the most basic necessities.
